Guinsa Temple 2022

Sep 7, 2023 | Gallery

In 2022 I studied in Korea for a month taking language classes. While I lived mainly in Busan, I spent a night in Guinsa Temple, the headquarters for Cheontae Buddhism in the country. I spent two days fully immersing myself in the Buddhist way of life, learning about their culture and belief system. This included waking up at 3 AM to attend the morning ritual with the monks, hiking to a burial ground on top of a mountain, and eating all my meals sourced from their local farm that the monks tend to. These photos are from my time there.
